POEA warns public on fake jobs posted on Facebook

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration warns job seekers on
the proliferation of unauthorized Facebook pages that post supposed
overseas job vacancies using the POEA name and logo.
Most of the Facebook pages offering jobs are operated by scammers, illegal
recruiters, and other enterprising individuals who wanted to earn extra
money though advertisements and links to other job portals. Owners of
these Facebook accounts post job vacancies that were either fake or
unverified and were not approved by the POEA.
They use page titles with catchy labels such as work abroad, job hiring and
accredited agency to prompt job applicants, the target niche market, into
‘liking’ their page.
The POEA only has two (2) official FB pages: poea.gov.ph and poea.official.
Both were verified as authentic by Facebook and have the blue verification
badge.
Facebook pages like POEA Jobs Online, POEA Job Agency Hiring, POEA Job
Hiring, POEA Jobs Abroad-Accredited Agency, POEA Job Hiring USA, New Zealand
Job Hiring, POEA Job Agency Hiring USA, POEA Job Hiring Australia WORK Abroad,
Work Abroad OFW, Work Abroad Poea Accrediated Agency, Work Abroad
Opportunities, work Abroad Hiring, Work Abroad Poea Licensed Agency and
many other pages that use the POEA brand are not in any way associated
with or endorsed by the administration.
Job applicants are advised to use the POEA verification system at the POEA
website instead of Facebook in looking for overseas jobs. /END
